Dark Matter

Imagine waking up in the dark depths of space with five other strangers, not knowing who or where you are...

From the makers of Stargate, comes Dark Matter, a slick and exciting new science fiction drama, that has taken audiences by storm. Currently airing on Syfy, and its number one rated show since it began, this thrilling series now comes to DVD courtesy of RLJ Entertainment's Acorn Label.

When the six-person crew of a derelict spaceship awaken from stasis in the farthest reaches of space, their memories have been wiped clean and they have no recollection of who they are or how they got there.

The mysteries of their respective pasts take them on a journey to the deepest depths of space. Hounded by the galactic authorities, their former employers, ruthless corporations, rivals, bounty hunters, and former enemies -they only have each other to rely upon. All the while, the clock is ticking as there is a traitor in their midst, a mole who orchestrated their communal mind-wipe.

The Green Man

British acting great Albert Finney stars as a slimy hotel owner in The Green Man, a gripping ghostly BBC Two mini series from 1990, which comes to DVD courtesy of Simply Media.

Maurice Allington (Finney - Skyfall, The Gathering Storm) is the promiscuous and alcoholic owner of a quaint British bed-and-breakfast hotel, the Green Man Inn. In the hope of attracting customers, when he's not trying to seduce them, Allington keeps his guests entertained with tales of ghosts and spirits haunting his hotel, spreading rumours that the ghost of a notorious 17th century occult scientist haunts it. But he and his guests are in for a shock when they realise that the hotel is possessed by some very real and malevolent other-worldly spirits.

At times a sexual farce, at others a ghostly thriller, this BAFTA winning extraordinary three-part series is based on the Kingsley Amis 1969 satirical novel of the same name. Starring Linda Marlowe (Eastenders, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Sarah Berger (Murphy's Law, Castles), Nicky Henson (Syriana, Downton Abbey) and Josie Lawrence (Whose Line is it Anyway?, Fat Friends), it makes its DVD debut on 5 October 2015.

3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets

Two cars. 10 bullets. Two lives irrevocably changed. All within 3 1/2 Minutes. The tragic tale of 17-year-old Jordan Davis and an argument over loud music from a car containing a group of black teenagers, that escalated in a flash into shots being fired is told in 3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets.

The fallout of the senseless killing and the subsequent trial of middle-aged white man Michael Dunn is charted in this riveting documentary released in cinemas on 2 October 2015 by Dogwoof.

Awarded a Special Jury Award at Sundance 2015, 3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets directed by Marc Silver (Who Is Dayani Cristal?), is an unflinching look at racism and violence in the USA and how it impacts ordinary families and young black lives. Blending police interrogation footage, real-life courtroom drama, reconstructions of the incident in a garage forecourt alongside moving and intimate interviews with Jordan Davis' parents, the film tells this powerful tale looking at the local implications and its effects on the families and a community. But it also tells a wider story about racism, prejudice and the search for justice within the American judicial system.
