The Booth at the End

Chilling psychological TV series The Booth At The End wowed critics and audiences alike when it aired in the US and now this gripping thriller created and written by Christopher Kubasik (What Lives Inside) and from Michael Eisner's groundbreaking multi-platform studio Vuguru, comes to UK DVD for the first time.

A father whose child is dying of Leukaemia. An elderly woman who wants to restore her husband's failing memory. A nun who no longer hears the voice of God. A man who wants to wipe out every trace of his second marriage. In desperation they each enter a Faustian pact with a mysterious man who always sits in the same seat at the local diner. The Man (Xander Berkeley - 24, Terminator 2), can make their deepest desire a reality, but only if they complete the task he assigns them - a task that can have extreme, even deadly, consequences.

One must rob a bank; another must protect a little girl; one has to make a number of people cry; another is instructed to build a bomb and set it off in a crowded restaurant. Sometimes the assignments are in direct opposition to one another, sometimes the clients have to work together. Each story is revealed at close quarters from the same spot in the diner, through dialogue in which The Man shifts from confessor to therapist to puppetmaster. As the stories begin to intersect, some clients mess up or change their minds, while others complete their task only to discover that what they wished for isn't what they really wanted after all. Both series of this thrilling show come to DVD as The Booth at the End: Series 1 and 2 on 11 July 2016 courtesy of Simpy Media.

Long Shadow: The Great War

Based on the prize-winning book, powerful BBC WWI documentary series Long Shadow: The Great War makes its UK DVD debut courtesy of Simply Media.

Renowned British historian David Reynolds explores the enduring impact of The Great War on our world and the shadow it has cast over Europe since the last shots were finally fired. This powerful, eye-opening three part series comes to DVD for the first time on 4 July 2016.

In the series Reynolds aims to change the perceptions of the First World War from the mud, blood, Tommies and trenches to give a sense of the broader consequences of war and its effect over the whole of the twentieth century.

Travelling to locations across Europe-from Slovenia to the Sudetenland, Belfast to Berlin- he examines everything that World War I left in its wake, illuminating how the conflict unleashed forces we still grapple with today.

This remarkable series also chronicles how the experience of war haunted the generation who lived through it, and the soldiers who survived it- dynamic characters such as Benito Mussolini, Eamon de Valera, Philippe Petain, James Ramsay MacDonald and Thomas Masaryk.

Drawing on years of research and a wealth of historical footage, Long Shadow provides a fresh, captivating and-at times-terrifying look at The Great War and its lasting legacy.

The Wicked Lady

Michael Winner's (Deathwish) classic bawdy romp The Wicked Lady finally gets a UK DVD release courtesy of Second Sight Films.

This boisterous caper features screen legend Faye Dunaway (Chinatown) as the titular lead, who appears alongside an all-star cast including Alan Bates (Far from the Madding Crowd), John Gielgud (Chariots of Fire) and Denholm Elliot (Raiders of the Lost Ark.

After seducing and marrying the already betrothed Sir Ralph Skelton (Elliott), Lady Barbara Skelton (Dunaway) finds life very dull, despite her wealth and good fortune. Desperate for excitement and danger she is thrown into the arms of infamous highwayman Jerry Jackson (Bates). Every evening she slips away from home, to join him in his criminal exploits. But how long before her perilous nighttime escapades are discovered?

This remake of the 1945 film, famously caused a censorship storm over a controversial whipping scene between Dunaway and Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation) on its original release in 1983, and now it finally comes DVD for the first time, in its full uncensored glory on 4 July 2016.
