The Blitz 80th Anniversary

On the 80th Anniversary of The Blitz, one of the greatest tragedies in British history, that saw the Nazis invade the UK with a devastating bombing campaign that led to the tragic loss of thousands of lives, Reel 2 Reel Films presents a fascinating new documentary The Blitz 80th Anniversary to commemorate this pivotal event of World War II.

The film offers a brand new insight into how ordinary people managed to survive with incredible acts of courage and features amazing never seen before archive footage, along with powerful interviews with those who experienced it first-hand. The Blitz 80th Anniversary is set to arrive on DVD and digital on 10 May 2021.

Between 1940 and 1941, the German Luftwaffe regularly bombed different areas of Britain, including the relentless bombing of London, over 56 nights. Sadly the devastating campaign saw more than 40,000 civilians killed in what was to become known as The Blitz. By May of 1941, Hitler had set his sights on attacking the USSR and the bombings subsequently ceased.

Now this fascinating and powerful documentary sheds light on those fateful months and how they affected the British people living in the cities under attack. The film delves into the real story of The Blitz, how it played out from city to city, with an in depth look into the build up and the difficult and emotional personal stories.

Discover more about one of the darkest periods of the Second World War in this definitive look, where Britain was on the verge of being invaded, but held strong through stubborn defiance and a sheer will of the entire nation to never surrender.

A Glitch In The Matrix

Garnering critical acclaim and sparking many conversations on its premiere at Sundance 2021, A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX from acclaimed documentary filmmaker Rodney Ascher is set for its release on Blu--ray and DVD on 10 May 2021 from Dogwoof and is available now on digital HD.

The film looks at a question that has been around since the dawn of philosophy. What if our world and everything in it isn't real? The digital age has seen the idea of simulation theory enter the mainstream, particularly with The Wachowskis' seminal The Matrix and now the mind-blowing feature documentary A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX from Ascher (Room 237, The Nightmare) explores this very question in a ground- breaking documentary. Ascher and producer Ross Dinerstein ponder the questions it throws up - what does it mean if our whole existence is on the whim of some strange creature or gamer somewhere?

We meet a fascinating line-up of people including those who believe we are living in some kind of game simulation, as well as scientists, experts and amateur sleuths who have been looking at this remarkable theory.

Beginning with Plato and using sci-fi master Philip K Dick as a major starting point, the film blends digital tech and animation to create a vibrant viewing experience. Bright, exciting talking avatars are used to represent true believers who believe in Simulation Theory rather than talking heads. And 3D animation is used to add more visual style to the film, which also bristles with scores of film clips, not least of The Matrix itself. The shadow of the 1999 film looms large over A Glitch in The Matrix, including interviews with a Neo obsessive whose lawyers advised using The Matrix Defence in court after being accused of brutal crimes.

Is it science fiction or science fact? Is it a cop out to avoid the complexities and madness of the modern world? Will you take the red pill? Or the blue pill? Watch A Glitch in The Matrix and decide.

Keeping Faith Series 3 and Complete Series 1-3 Box Set

Boasting record breaking viewing figures for the BBC, BAFTA-winning original Welsh Noir Keeping Faith was a runaway success and stars award-winning actor Eve Myles (Torchwood) who charms as the eponymous lead, and this time her all-important jacket is orange. Now a brand-new series is set to air on BBC One and arrives on DVD and digital alongside Keeping Faith Complete 1 - 3 Box Set this spring. The hit series broke new ground with the complete show filmed in two languages, Welsh as Un Bore Mercher and English as Keeping Faith, with the Welsh versions being aired on Welsh TV S4C, and iPlayer ahead of its national broadcasts.

In series one we meet tenacious lawyer, wife and mother Faith Howells (Eve Myles, Broadchurch, Torchwood), who must deal with the sudden, mysterious disappearance of her husband Evan (Bradley Freegard, Under Milk Wood). Series Two follows 18 months after Faith's life was turned upside down and she is drawn into a new mystery, taking on the case of a local farmer (Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Peaky Blinders), accused of murdering her husband in cold blood. She must also contend with the fallout of previous events: conflicting emotions towards her husband and former criminal Steve Baldini (Mark Lewis Jones, Chernobyl), and pressure from steely gang matriarch Gael Reardon (Anastasia Hille, Baptiste).

Following the success of the first two series, Keeping Faith returns for its third instalment with the brilliant Eve Myles back as the eponymous lead for this six-part series and Celia Imrie (Mamma Mia 2, Patrick Melrose) joins the cast. We re-join Abercorran 18 months on from the explosive series two finale and Faith must now contend with Evan as their divorce and custody battle go from bad to worse, and where to go now following the fall out.

Faith tries to remain positive even as her world is crumbling around her - but someone from her past appears and threatens to disrupt the tentative peace Faith has started to find in her life.

Will Faith be able to cling on to the tenuous normality she's constructed?

Danny. Legend. God.

Meet Danny. Legend. God. or so he thinks. A Bulgarian city councillor hijacks a documentary team and takes them on a wild and dangerous ride into his ruthless world of corruption. No filter and no tact, he doesn't care who he offends, hurts or steps on... what Danny wants Danny gets...

Now this darkly-comic film, a Bulgarian-British co-production from first time writer-director Yavor Petkov with award-winning cinematography from Rumen Vasilev, is set for its UK premiere on 3 May 2021 from Reel 2 Reel Films.

When a British documentary team land on Danny's (Dimo Alexiev - Leatherface, The Legend of Hercules, I Spit on Your Grave 2, The Expendables 2) patch to investigate money laundering he agrees to be filmed, but the crew get way more than they bargained for. The ego-maniac orders them to abandon their original plan and to simply film everything he does.

As he leads the crew into darker and riskier situations, his behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and he rebrands both himself and the documentary Danny. Legend. God. Nothing's off limits and no one is safe, even his own family. It's sex, drugs, excess and vulgarity, just the way Danny likes it.

Danny. Legend. God. is a satirical dip into the seedy world of corruption in Eastern Europe and the journey of a delusional, self-proclaimed 'god' who is anything but.

Winning Best Cinematography at the Golden Rose National Film Festival and officially selected at Warsaw Film Festival and the Sofia International Film Festival in 2020, the film won Best English Language Feature at Cardiff International Film Festival.

Now this wickedly sardonic film is ready to hit UK screens but are the British audience ready for the man, the myth, the icon that is Danny. Legend. God.? (yes he hi-jacked that bit too).
